FAQs

Why might a fairing block be needed for installation?

External thru-hull transducers usually require a fairing block to aim the beam vertically, optimizing sonar signal return.

Where should transducers be placed for best performance?

To obtain the best possible performance, install all transducers according to the included installation instructions.

Why is the location of installation important for thru-hull transducers?

Mounted in clean water forward of propellers and running gear, this installation produces the most effective signal return because nothing on the vessel interferes with the transducer’s active face.

What if I have trouble installing the transducer?

If you experience installation issues, contact Garmin Product Support or seek help from a professional installer.

What should I do if I need help during installation?

If you experience difficulty during the installation, contact Garmin Product Support or seek the advice of a professional installer.

How should the transducer be mounted on the hull?

The P19 transducer is a thru-hull style, which means it must be installed in a hole drilled through the hull of the boat.

Why choose a flush thru-hull transducer for a sailboat?

Flush types are installed on sailing vessels to produce minimum drag.

How does the position affect thru-hull transducer signal return?

Mounted in clean water forward of propellers and running gear, this produces the most effective signal return.

When is a thru-hull pair recommended?

A thru-hull pair is recommended for SideVü transducers if deadrise is greater than 5 degrees.
